We are now on our way to Marquises, a group of French islands about 2978 miles away. Puerto Ayoro was certainly different with the volcanic terrain, that perfect beach, the hustle and bustle at the waterfront, the little 6" iguanas sunbathing on the rocks everywhere or skittering across the sidewalk, the 3 ft. iguanas appearing slothlike, and lethargic, throughout the town waterfront and park and side streets, and the Blue Footed Booby (a bird). The folks here have done a wonderful job of setting up the Charles Darwin Center which is a preserve centering on promoting and nurturing the tortoise. The grocery store was suitably stocked with the fresh food that we needed to replenish the galley.
